Feijoada is a kick ass food whose name belies its simplicity.

- Black beans (frijol negro or feijão preto)
- Rice
- Salt and or pepper

- Weigh out a reasonable amount of beans... around 6--10 fistfuls
- Put them in a bowl and cover with water.
- Soak overnight or for 8-10 hours.
- After soaking, pour out the water and place the beans into a pan.
- Cover with water again and boil for two hours.
- After two hours when the beans are edible, tip out some of the water.
- Boil rice
- Serve "feijoada" (rice with beans)
